Collecting Testimonials
Video testimonials
How customers record or upload video, and the limits that apply.
Video testimonials are the most persuasive kind of social proof. Kudoso lets customers record one straight from the collection form, or upload an existing clip.
Recording in the browser#
When a customer picks the video option, the form opens a recorder right in the browser.
Grant camera and microphone access
The browser asks permission to use the camera and mic. The customer allows it once.
Record
A short countdown, then recording starts. The customer speaks, then stops when done.
Review
They can play back the recording and re-record if they are not happy with it.
Submit
Once they are happy, they submit. The video uploads and the testimonial lands in your dashboard as pending.
Uploading an existing video#
If a customer already has a clip, they can upload it instead of recording. Common formats like MP4, WebM, and QuickTime .mov are accepted.
Limits#
A couple of limits apply to every video, regardless of plan:
- Length: each video can be up to 5 minutes long. This keeps testimonials punchy and uploads quick.
- Free plan count: on the Free plan, your organization can collect up to 5 video testimonials in total. Once you hit 5, the video option is hidden on your forms and customers can still leave a written testimonial.
The Pro plan removes the count limit, so video becomes unlimited. The 5-minute length cap stays on all plans.
Tip
Aim for thirty to sixty seconds. The best video testimonials are short and specific: one concrete result, said plainly, beats a rambling five-minute clip.
Tips for better video testimonials#
- Ask the customer a specific question in your outreach, for example "what changed for your team after switching?", rather than "say something nice".
- Tell them good light and quiet matter more than a fancy camera. A phone by a window is perfect.
- Reassure them they can re-record. Knowing the first take is not final makes people relax.
