Collecting Testimonials
Text testimonials
The written testimonial path, and how to get quotes worth quoting.
Text testimonials are the workhorse of social proof. They are quick for customers to leave, easy to read on any page, and they never hit a plan limit.
Unlimited on every plan#
Both the Free and Pro plans include unlimited text testimonials and unlimited forms. There is no cap and no card required to collect them. Only video has a count limit on Free.
What the customer fills in#
A typical text testimonial is the written quote plus a few details: a star rating, the customer's name, and their title. Exactly which fields appear is up to you, set in the form builder.
Getting quotes worth quoting#
The quality of a written testimonial depends almost entirely on what you ask. A blank "leave a review" box gets you "great product, love it". A pointed question gets you a usable quote.
Tip
In your outreach, ask one sharp question: "What were you struggling with before, and what changed?" Specific prompts produce specific testimonials, and specific testimonials convert.
Good written testimonials tend to have three things:
- A before: the problem the customer had.
- An after: the concrete result, ideally with a number.
- A name and face: a real person at a real company, not "J. from the internet".
Editing and AI summaries#
Once a text testimonial is submitted you can review it, and on Pro, Kudoso can generate a short AI summary and a sentiment read. That is covered in AI summaries.
